ESPN College GameDay Creates Virtual Fan Experience with Help from Ross Production Services

College GameDay, the ESPN pre-game show which airs before college football games, recently launched a new fan experience called Virtual Pit. It’s intended to be a way for fans to continue to be involved in the show during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Instead of having in-person attendance at the show, Virtual Pit offers fans the opportunity to join the show virtually. So far, the idea seems to be popular – more than 5,000 fans registered within 24 hours of the announcement.

Ross Production Services (RPS) has worked closely with the College GameDay production team to create the infrastructure necessary to make Virtual Pit a reality. RPS developed the Virtual Pit production portal, the key piece of the puzzle that allows hundreds of fans to join live on a weekly basis.

The College GameDay experience is built on fans and their energy, and it was important to include them in the show even if they weren’t able to attend in person due to the pandemic. Virtual Pit allows ESPN to feature fans from all 50 states showing off their signs and their fan caves.

College GameDay intends to make this season as memorable as ever by keeping the show’s traditions alive. With the inclusion of Virtual Pit, fans from across the country will get the opportunity to join the show, support their team, and hang out with the College GameDay crew. Game on!
