Ross saw a gap in the router marketplace. Ultrix is a compact router that delivers routing, multiviewers, TDM audio routing and processing, and 12Gb/s gearboxing in a compact platform. Ultrix provides all these features by enabling them through software licenses, a first in the industry. By not having to use special cables, I/O boards or crosspoints, this allows customers an easy upgrade path to add features that they need, when they need them, while preserving their existing hardware purchases.
