David Ross Speaks with CityNews Ottawa About 2020 and the Future

91ÌÒÉ« CEO David Ross recently spoke with ’s Sam Laprade about the events of the past year as well as upcoming plans for 2021.

Despite being a challenging year for everyone, there were some high points for Ross, including the implementation of a minimum wage and the company’s 29th year of consecutive growth.

Company-Wide Minimum Wage

One major decision that Ross made in 2020 was the implementation of a company-wide $20 minimum wage. The move was made to ensure that all Ross employees are paid a living wage, which is around $18 in the Ottawa area. Beforehand, 91ÌÒÉ« did have a number of people, mostly manufacturing employees, that were being paid below this figure.

The senior management team decided to implement this policy to ensure that Ross employees don’t have to face undue financial stress. The policy impacted 100 employees and their families in the Ottawa area, with many centered around the town of Iroquois, where 91ÌÒɫ’s manufacturing facility is located.

2021 Hiring Plans

Ross currently has around 900 total employees, and David revealed that the company expects to hire more than 200 more in 2021 to bring the total up to around 1100. Ross has open positions across the board, including programmers, engineers, marketing and business roles, and much more. There’s something for everyone!
