During today’s Ross Live | 2020 Tech Talk presentation, the Ross Signal Processing team introduced the innovative software-based signal processing platform ²õ´Ç´Ú³Ù³Ò±ð²¹°ùâ„¢.

softGear is a future-facing technology platform that creates new ways to acquire, process, manage and distribute content. In addition to complementing existing hardware-based workflows, softGear enables the transition to software-based on-premise workflows as well as cloud environments in the future.

An Innovative Future-Facing Technology Platform

softGear offers video, audio and metadata processing with commercial of the shelf (COTS) hardware. Within softGear, algorithms are encapsulated using modern container technology targeting CPU or GPU rather than FPGA or DSP. In addition, media processing services are deployed as microservices instead of dedicated physical cards. This allows for rapid integration of IP from other companies that would not otherwise be possible. The Ross DashBoard user interface also ensures that softGear is extremely user-friendly for operators everywhere.

Included within the softGear product portfolio is the Nielsen® Watermark Encoder for IP Networks (NWE-IP), which provides watermarking for audience measurement in AES67 and ST 2110 environments; the Radio and Streaming Audio Processor (RSAP), powered by the legendary Orban® processing library; and the versatile Broadcast Audio Processor (BAP), which delivers Dolby® Real time Loudness Levelling (RTLL), Nielsen® Watermarking and Dolby Digital encoding in a flexible multi-channel solution for television playout and distribution chains.

What Else is New?

IGGY is the Ross line of broadcast-grade audio bridges, and they are AES67 and ST 2110 compliant. The most recent release is IGGY AES 16.16, which includes 16-channels of bi-directional AES audio. When mounted within a one rack unit, three IGGY AES 16.16 devices deliver unparalleled density of up to 48 channels.
