, based in Orlando FL, recently completed the construction of a new campus to serve as its flagship location. The brand-new Sand Lake Campus was built not only to provide impactful worship experiences in its 1350-seat auditorium, but also to handle video production and live streaming. With the help of Ross equipment, Discovery Church is well-equipped to keep its communities connected despite the challenges that have arisen as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a multi-site church, Discovery Church is already well-versed in video production, but the Sand Lake Campus has significantly bolstered its video capabilities. The church offers in-venue image magnification for those who attend in-person, as well as livestreams and recorded content for those who tune in online. Discovery Church also streams content from the Sand Lake campus to its two other campuses in the Orlando area each week, and sometimes vice versa.
The majority of the video production equipment is located in the control room at the Sand Lake Campus, and the heart of the system is the Ross Carbonite Black production switcher with 3 MEs and 4 built-in MiniMEs. The Sand Lake Campus control room has a 3ME panel and a 2ME panel which can each work independently, and this allows the technical director(s) to easily switch between the auditorium IMAG and the broadcast.
The Sand Lake Campus control room also features a Ross Ultrix-FR5 12G router for signal routing, as well as 3 licenses for the Ross Ultriscape software-defined multiviewer platform. To round everything out, Discovery Church uses the Ross Carbonite Mosaic video-image processor to stitch the video outputs together on the auditorium’s LED walls. Carbonite Mosaic’s extensive flexibility provides Discovery Church staff with a wide array of options to choose from when deciding how content is shown on the auditorium’s LED walls.
