Over the last couple of days, the Sports Video Group (SVG) hosted its annual Sports Venue Summit and the Ross Sports & Live Events team was pleased to participate in several panel discussions on all things related to sports venue production. While this year’s summit was forced to go virtual, it certainly didn’t detract from the engaging discussion about the newest venue projects as well as the ways that the sports and live events industry has continued to innovate during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ross has been a longtime supporter of the SVG Venue Summit and as a Title Sponsor of this year’s event, our very own Kevin Cottam, Vice-President, Global Sports & Live Events, provided the opening remarks. In addition to welcoming all attendees, Kevin spoke about some of the major projects that Ross has supported this year, including Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada and Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles, California amongst others.
On day 1 of the summit, Stephan Repass, General Manager with Ross Production Services, and Bradley Wasilition, Business Development Manager for PIERO, presented a case study about Ross’ new remote production solution. As an innovation that came out of the lockdown period earlier this year, the cloud-based production solution includes a combination of physical devices situated in a control room that can be operated remotely from anywhere in the world. This solution also integrates broadcast-quality transport to ensure outstanding performance at the highest standard.
Andrew Sampson, Technical Solutions Manager with our Sports & Live Events Team, rounded off day 1 of the summit by joining a discussion with leading production professionals from the Cincinnati Reds, the Philadelphia Union and the Miami Dolphins. They explored the new wave of HDR and 4K videoboard technology that has been sweeping across North American venues.
Our Content and Workflow Specialist, Gregory Kuh, wrapped up the jam-packed program by joining members of the Sofi Stadium operations and the Los Angeles Chargers production teams to preview what is to come from “the crown jewel” of sports venues, Sofi Stadium.
